Salvation is a work of God. It is the gift of God -- not by works, but by grace through faith. Ephesians 2:8-9
Here are the ABC's of salvation:
Acknowledge that you are a sinner. We are all sinners by nature. We all need salvation. We are all lost: "There is none righteous, no not one...There is none that seeks after God." Romans 3:10-11 "All we like sheep have gone astray." Isaiah 53:6 Every person is separated from God because of his sin. Isaiah 59:1-2
Believe that Jesus died for you as a substitute -- He took the penalty for your sin. Trust Him to save you. John 1:12-13 "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8
Confess that Jesus is God (deity, the creator God) and that you trust Him. Repent of your sin, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and confess Him as your Lord and Savior. "For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Romans 10:10 Now that you have put your trust in Jesus Christ, you have eternal life. God promises that whoever believes in Him has eternal life. John 3:15-16 You are also a new creation in Christ. You have a new nature. 2 Corinthians 5:17
After you have been saved you should publicly confess Him before men, and present yourself for Believer's Baptism by immersion as an act of obedience and identification with Christ. Matthew 28:19 Read your Bible daily. I Peter 2:2 Commit yourself to fellowship in a sound Bible church. Hebrews 10:24-25 Tell others about Jesus Christ. I Peter 3:15
