Scripture Readings

There are few things that are as important as daily time with the scriptures of God. Reading, meditating, praying, and living the scriptures of God is at the core of becoming a mature follower of Christ.  There are a variety of reading plans available.  Listed on this site are a handful of helpful ways to approach the scriptures in a meaningful way.  To access a reading plan click on the image of the reading plan you have chosen.

Revised Common Lectionary

The RCL is the most common pattern for Scripture readings in worship settings in the Church.  First Baptist follows the Lectionary from Advent to Pentecost.  This reading pattern helps you reflect upon Sunday readings and prepare for the next weeks worship experience.

Book of Common Prayer

The Episcopal and Anglican tradition has a two year reading cycle that can be used for daily readings and reflection. Because these readings are adapted for daily devotional reading, they do not always follow the Book of Common Prayer exactly.
