Dorcas is a woman in the Bible whose story is told in the book of Acts 9:36-42.
In Acts 9:36 we learn "In Joppa there was a disciple named Tabitha (which, when translated, is Dorcas) who was always doing good and helping the poor. Acts 9:39b says about her: "showing [Peter] the robes and other clothing that Dorcas had made while she was still with them."
This Circle is a group of women who enjoy making things that are then donated to charities. Women of all crafting abilities are welcome. Those who are more experienced are happy to help others learn. Some examples of our projects are: lap quilts, day-care nap-mats, and baby blankets. Dorcas Circle also supports the Crossroads Urban Center Bazaar, which raises funds for CUCs food pantry and thrift store.Return to UMW page.
