|What We Believe |
We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons (the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit) equal in power and glory; and that this triune God created all, upholds all, and governs all.
We believe that the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments are the Word of God; all are fully inspired, without error in the original manuscripts, and the supreme infallible rule of faith and practice.
We believe in the "Apostles Creed," "Nicene Creed" and the doctrines of the traditional mainline evangelical Protestant Church.
We believe in the Universal Christian Church, the living spiritual body of which Christ is the Head and all regenerated persons are members.
We believe in God the Father, an infinite, personal Spirit, perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, justice, and love; that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of people; that He hears and answers prayer; and that he saves from sin and death all who come to him through Jesus Christ.
We believe in Jesus Christ, God's only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles and teachings, His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people and impending personal visible return to earth as King over all.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower for ministry all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Jesus Christ, and that He is an abiding Helper, Comforter, Teacher, and Guide. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit and the exercise of all the biblical gifts of the Spirit.
We believe that all humans are sinners by nature and choice and are therefore under condemnation; that God regenerates by the Holy Spirit those who repent of their sins and confess Jesus Christ as Lord; that Jesus Christ baptizes the seeking believer with the Holy Spirit and power for service at the time of their conversion and as often as needed subsequent to their regeneration.
We believe in the redemptive power of Jesus' blood. While required by California law to report certain crimes, we believe that all sins can be forgiven, and all repentant sinners can be redeemed. Repentant sinners are welcome in this Church; however, we expect people to grow in obedience to the teachings of the Bible. We also expect them to earnestly seek God's righteousness in their lives.
We believe in the impending personal visible return of Jesus Christ to earth for the establishment of His kingdom on earth, the resurrection of the body, the final judgment with eternal blessing of the righteous and the endless suffering of the wicked.
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ committed two Ordinances to the Church: Baptism and the Lord's Supper. We believe in adult believer's water Baptism by immersion (where possible), but respect and perpetuate family traditions such as infant Baptism and sprinkling. We believe in open Communion to all repentant believers, and respect the variety of theological positions within the Protestant traditions. (Acts 2:38, I Corinthians 11:23-30, Luke 3:3
We believe in laying-on-of-hands for the empowering of the Holy Spirit, for receiving gifts of the Spirit, for healing, and for recognition and empowering of those whom God has licensed and ordained to lead and serve the Church. (Acts 13:3, Mark 6:5, I Timothy 4:14, 2 Timothy 1:6).
We believe , as the Bible states in I Corinthians 12:7, that each believer will be given spiritual gifts for the common good.
We believe in the sanctity of life and death. We believe that life begins at conception, and that God ordains that life continue until death naturally or accidently occurs. We believe that parents should not terminate the lives of their children, and children should not purposefully shorten the natural lives of their parents.
We believe that Christians should support and uphold the values of family life. We encourage monogamous heterosexual marriages. We encourage and welcome both the children and the parents of single parent families. We encourage and support families of remarriage after death or divorce, and consider these couples as full joint heirs in the kingdom of God. We welcome and appreciate those individuals who are parenting the children that their spouses conceived in a previous relationship. We honor adoptive parents, foster parents, and relatives actively parenting the children of others.
We believe sexual relationships outside of or before sanctified heterosexual weddings are sinful and not to be condoned.
We also welcome and equally support into our leadership positions all single people who are temporarily or permanently called to celibacy and are committed to a holy lifestyle.
We believe God created all humans in His image. Therefore all humans are to receive the respect and dignity of being co-heirs of God's blessings and co-receivers of God's intercession. Consequently we equally welcome, love and respect people of both sexes, all races, national heritages, handicaps, and all ages.
We believe, as the Bible states in I John 5:11-12, that God gives us eternal life through His Son, Jesus Christ.
We believe, as the Bible states in John 16:24, that God wants us to pray; and that He will answer our prayers so that our joy will be made full.
We believe, as the Bible states in I Corinthians 10:24, that we can call upon God for deliverance from temptation. We believe that God's grace downsizes the temptations to our withstanding capacity, and that He actively creates paths of escape. Consequently when we remain connected to Him, He will help us find His way for us to live righteously.
We believe, as the Bible states in I John 1:9, that if we confess our sins God will completely forgive and cleanse us as often as needed to start fresh again.
We believe, as the Bible states in Proverbs 3:5-6, that when we trust in the Lord with all our heart and acknowledge our dependence upon Him. We believe He will guide us into the highest quality of living.
