Pastor's Message - For The Average Christian By Rev. Judy Secor, R.N., B.S., M.Div., 1992 Fuller Theological Seminary
When Was the Last Time You Showed Up for Work In God's Kingdom???
If you're a Christian, then you've given your life to Christ. If that's so, then He is in charge of your life; not you. If you are still running your life without checking in with Him to discover what He has planned for your next step, then how will you ever grow and develop spiritually as provided for you?
Have you learned to walk on water yet? How about overcoming temptation? What about ministering under the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit??? Where exactly are you right now?
If you're as clueless as most of us, don't despair. Just take charge of that inertia and re-direct your self-serving Self back to God and His path for your life. It's never too late to start fresh. Jesus Christ guarantees us a clean slate every moment. Grab hold of God and never let go!
It's fine to risk and fail and finally win! Share the joys and sorrows with those who understand the tensions and the potential for freedom in Christ's love and power. Come to church this Sunday and get real with God. He can handle it.
If you're not a Christian ... God help you. You have nothing to lose but loss itself.
Never forget; you are loved.
There is a God in Heaven, and He cares immensely.
And I'm praying for you.
Here's a wonderful poem to encourage you:
Fret Not Thyself. Psalm 37:1
Dear Restless Heart
Poem by Edith Willis Linn
Dear restless heart, be still; don't fret and worry so
God has a thousand ways His love and help to show.
Just trust, and trust, and trust, until His will you know.
Dear restless heart, be still, for peace is Gods own smile
His love can every wrong and sorrow reconcile.
Just love, and love, and love, and calmly wait awhile.
Dear restless heart, be brave; don't moan and sorrow so
He hath a meaning kind in chilly winds that blow.
Just hope, and hope, and hope, until you braver grow.
Dear restless heart, repose upon His breast this hour
His grace is strength and life. His love is bloom and flower.
Just rest, and rest, and rest, within His tender power.
Dear restless heart, be still! Don't struggle to be free
Gods life is in your life; from Him you may not flee.
Just pray, and pray, and pray, until you have faith to see.
