My name is Mary D. Freeney. I have been in church for as long as I can remember, having parents who gave their children that very stable beginning.

I joined the Saint Mary's Baptist Church in April 1990. I had moved from Madison, Wisconsin to Silver Spring, Maryland with my husband, daughter and son. We had been looking for a church family that fit us and them. After we had worshipped at Saint Mary's, and after awhile we felt at home.

 I became a deaconess at Saint Mary's in October 1996 and chairperson in 2004.

I believe in Matthew 20:26 "Whoever wants to become great among you, must be your servant."
Therefore, I try to live by Jeremiah 29:11-13 and Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed."
